What's Dynamic Compression in Ad Audio, Y'all?

⏱️ 3 MIN READ

Dynamic compression is all about wrangling the difference between the loudest parts and the quietest moments in an audio signal. Think of it like this: when you're mastering commercials for the radio waves, we use this trick to make sure the announcer's voice really cuts through, even when the background music is jammin'.

In plain ol' English, it's a process where special audio gear or a software plugin (we call 'em VSTs) dials down that loudness gap. Why do we bother? Well, for radio spots, it's super important for keeping the speaker's voice right there with the background tunes. This way, the message stays strong and impactful, never getting lost in the shuffle, especially when folks are listening on those tiny little speakers or in a noisy environment. We want your ad to have some serious oomph and be heard loud and clear, no matter what!
