Voice Processing: From Raw Audio to Broadcast Standards

⏱️ 3 MIN READ

Behind the intuitive Sonodit interface runs one of the most advanced digital signal processing (DSP) chains in the cloud. We don't just stitch tracks together; we perform surgical restoration and optimization of the voice to meet the most demanding broadcast standards for radio (AM/FM) and digital streaming platforms.

Our Voice Signal Chain Step-by-Step:

  • Peak and RMS Normalization to -2dB: We adjust the gain level of the voiceover to set the dynamic ceiling at a strict -2dB. This ensures maximum volume without the risk of digital clipping or unwanted harmonic distortion.
  • Spectral Noise and Artifact Removal: We intelligently filter out digital background noise and any low or high-frequency interference that muddies the signal.
  • Dynamic Breath and Silence Adjustment: The system automatically detects intrusive or overly harsh breaths and removes them. Additionally, it calibrates the milliseconds of silence between phrases to give the voiceover a fluid, dynamic, and natural flow.
  • De-esser Treatment: Harsh high frequencies caused by sibilant consonants (like "S" sounds) are attenuated using an algorithmic de-esser, smoothing the signal without sacrificing pronunciation clarity.
  • Multiband Compression and Harmonic Enhancement: We apply frequency-split compression to level the voice dynamics, keeping it upfront at all times. Finally, we inject subtle harmonics to "sweeten" the signal, providing that warmth, weight, and presence characteristic of high-end condenser microphones found in traditional studios.
